community partners
Our Foundation works with valued community partners to ensure that our programs meet the needs of students with a passion for neuroscience. This pilot program has been made possible with the support and expertise contributed by:
University of Toronto - Collaborative Program in Neuroscience (CPIN)
Our outreach work began in 2011 when Firefly became the local sponsor of the Toronto Brain Bee. We continue to actively support this event. In 2012 we worked with the University to launch a pilot program in local high schools which became Bright Lights in the Lab.
Bright Lights in the Lab has been presented in partnership with University of Toronto Schools since 2012. Over the last 6 years the program has evolved into 3 unique programs for Researchers (Grade 10, 11 & 12), Explorers (Grade 7, 8 & 9) and Animators (Grade 5, 6 & 7). Firefly provides scholarships and financial aid to qualified students across the GTA.
The Bright Lights in Neuroscience platform is powered by The Deckchair Learning System.
The founders of Deckchair, through funding provided by the Eureka! Learning Institute,
are developing innovative tools for inspired learning at UTS.
